Astral Green Energy Park – Another groundbreaking development by AWGroup

The Secretary of State has approved the grant of planning consent following the unanimous agreement by Central Bedfordshire Council.

This consent follows closely on the heels of the Group’s groundbreaking Energy Park and EV charging station facility at Checkley Wood which will open in the Spring of this year. Astral Green Energy Park will be capable of powering over 1,100 average Bedfordshire homes, in addition to providing truly green energy directly to electric vehicles.

This scheme will use market-leading technology to deliver ultra-rapid EV charging with an eco-friendly coffee outlet, all powered by the onsite 1.5MW wind turbine. It also includes a Battery Energy Storage System, a 2.1MW solar array and land for a new Exit Point from the National Grid.

As our nation moves towards a better understanding of our need for green energy and the energy security that can come with it, there is a growing recognition of the critical role of renewable energy infrastructure in developments such as Astral Green Energy Park.

AWGroup is committed to working closely with national and local government and is already in serious discussions with Central Bedfordshire Council to assist in the rollout of electric bus services in the area.
