Building tomorrow, today

Net zero community living and working

Littleton Green is a pioneering, net zero community of up to 535 homes, directly powered by onsite renewable technology. Local employment opportunities are extensive within the development, with 160 newly created jobs. It provides over 2.9km of additional hedgerows and a 10% biodiversity net gain, and is set within 80 acres of park and woodland.

This development offers people the opportunity to live, work, and play in a sensitively created, environmentally low-impact community, alongside the cutting edge technology to power their homes and businesses.

Proven and trusted local family business

AWGroup has a long, rich history at the heart of communities. Over 3,000 homes and businesses have been built on AWGroup schemes across the southeast since 2000, but the Group’s dedication and accountability to communities dates back over 100 years. With roots in silica sand quarrying, AWGroup is a family-owned business that has been part of the Bedfordshire landscape for five generations and understands what it is to be committed to developments and people for the long-term.

AWGroup has deep foundations and real plans for change, with a proven track record of building environmentally conscious communities and projects that are fit for the future.

Getting Buckinghamshire building, now

The nation is in the grip of a housing crisis, particularly in areas where historic supply has been low. Buckinghamshire is one such county, with less than five years’ supply currently planned. Through the 2024 National Planning Policy Framework, Government has identified a need for 4,319 new homes in Buckinghamshire every year. Littleton Green provides homes exactly where they are most needed.

To truly kickstart economic growth, sustainable developments like Littleton Green are vital to provide immediate and significant contributions to Buckinghamshire’s housing deficit.

It is not a community for tomorrow, it is deliverable today.

Plan

Powering tomorrow, today

A green energy powerhouse

Littleton Green’s energy park can produce enough renewable electricity to power 4,846 average Buckinghamshire homes. Its 4.26MW turbine will be the most powerful in England, co-located with 10MW of solar, battery storage, and smart meters to provide a cutting edge, robust and reliable green power supply directly to the community.

The development’s directly wired, uniquely wind-powered EV charging station, will be only the second in the UK, both of which will be owned and operated by AWGroup. The station’s ultra rapid charging will be priced far below the market average, made possible by its connection to the turbine.

Local energy independence

Cutting edge micro-grids, like Littleton Green’s, provide renewable energy exactly where it is needed. It is local renewable power generation with exacting specification, deliberately sited at the point of consumption.

This secure, local generation and consumption model is soft on the grid and provides communities with confidence in their energy supply. It brings independence that homes and businesses can rely on, year-round.

This landmark development represents a new way of living; making Britain a clean energy superpower by putting renewable generation at the forefront of community design.

Renewable energy at the heart of the community

Within its fleet of onshore wind turbines, AWGroup operates one of England’s most powerful; the last and largest built during the previous onshore wind ban.

Single, high-capacity turbines such as this represent the future for community energy supply. One turbine alone can generate the same power as a 10-turbine wind farm did in 1991.

Single machine models such as Littleton Green are met with positive reception from much of the local community. A recent survey in the community for the Littleton Green turbine shows 89% support from local residents. This is consistent with AWGroup’s survey findings for its energy park located in Bedfordshire.
